NTNU University Museum
The NTNU University Museum is one of six university museums in Norway and forms part of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, abbreviated as NTNU.
The NTNU University Museum has its origins in the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters (DKNVS), founded in 1760.
The NTNU University Museum shall develop and share knowledge about nature and culture, and shall safeguard and preserve its scientific collections, making them available for research, curation and outreach efforts.
Our online collections
Our cultural history collections include objects from the cultural life of humans throughout the ages. The collections cover archaeological and cultural history objects from the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages, the Middle Ages and more recent times.
The coin collection, comprised of Norway's second largest numismatic collection, includes some of the most important finds of coins from the Viking and Middle Ages.
The Project
The main target group for this web portal is the international research community, but we hope other interested persons will find it useful as well.
The Museum’s collections are largly digitalised. The collection databases are developed in cooperation with MUSIT, the museums' IT organisation .
Collection activities at the NTNU University Museum are conducted according to the ethical rules of ICOM, The International Council of Museums .
